Dudu-Osun African Black Soap - Skin Care Review

After hearing April Athena (AprilAthena7) on Youtube rave about using this African black soap and how is dried up her acne, I had to try it. I had also heard others mention the wonders of using African Black Soap as a face cleanser and acne fighter. So I bought a few bars off amazon for really cheap so I could try this miracle prodcut for myself since I have been battling acne since my middle school years.

Unfortunately, this soap did not work for my skin. After doing some research there could be a number of reasons for this which I will explain below.

I only used it maybe two times during the week after I had washed my hair to make sure I cleaned all the shampoo/conditioner residue that may have gotten on my face. It lathers up really well and a little goes a long way. It made my face feel super clean and squeaky clean. After using it those few days I noticed I was getting acne clusters around my chin and cheeks. Not good! I couldn't understand why I  was breaking out so bad then I realized... the soap. Some say it was drying but I didn't notice too much dryness. Perhaps it was just too harsh and stripped my natural oils so much so that my skin overproduced more oil which in turn causes breakouts. One reason why it may have aggravated my skin.

After doing research I noticed some reviewers said that the African Black Soap purged their skin at first. Every time I've tried to purge my skin, my acne never gets better and in fact, stays worse. So if a product purges my skin I immediately stop.

I used it for 2 weeks with no improvement.

After doing more research I realized the best thing to use is Raw African Black Soap. Dudu-Osun may not be considered as raw as other soaps. Raw is not usually black and tends to be more of a brown color. This could be another reason why this broke me out.

I figured I will save it later and try it out as a regular soap in the shower and see how my skin reacts. No more face time though, haha!

Have you tried African Black Soap? Thoughts?

Hope everyone has a great week! Much love <3

Inglot 153 AMC Shine : Freedom System Palette

Inglot 153 AMC Shine

I have around 31 new Inglot shadows and with some brand new palettes I splurged on during their black Friday sale! It only  happens once a year so I endured much waiting and saving. 20% off all shadows- you can't beat that. I spent days looking through swatches to see what colors I wanted for all my palettes so I'm returning the favor :] I hope that these Inglot shadow reviews/ swatches help someone else create their palette!

153 AMC Shine is a beautiful shimmery, light, tan/beige color. It's so versatile and goes with everything and anything. It's a great natural color. Texture is soft and smooth. Very easy color to blend. Works for a great all over the lid color.

Below you can see me wearing 153 all over the lid. It is very reflective and shimmery so it may appear slightly lighter.

In the crease I'm wearing MACs Patina and just a simple black pencil liner smudged.

Overall, It's a nice shade to add to my collection. Even though it's such a simple color, I find myself reaching for it more than I thought I would. Especially when I've been working with bronzy shades or bright colored liners for summer.

Questions, comments, and advice is welcome! Hope everyone had a great weekend!

OOTD : F21 Crop Top + Maxi Skirt + Gladiator Sandals!

Happy May!
So excited for summer! I got a few new additions to my closet to get prepared for the up and coming summer-time. My newest obession: crop tops with maxi skirts! I only had one maxi skirt and I couldn't be happier to have a few more :]

I didn't know if I would like pairing black with navy but I love this outfit I put together. This pretty maxi skirt is sheer with a shorter lining underneath. Zip closure. I love the polka-dots against the bright navy color- it's so fun for summer. I think I could make a few nauticle inspired outfits with this skirt as well! I then added a black crop top with an all-lace backside. I think it is such a elegant touch. Since the skirt was a little big and I wanted to cover a little more, I hiked it up and added a brown braided belt from H&M.

You can still find this sweet lace crop top here. It retails for $9.80. It also comes in cream, coral, and aqua.
You can find the darling dot maxi skirt still but in black(I also have this one too) here. Retails for $13.80.
Love Forever21s' prices :]

I wanted to add some more brown into my outfit so I went with some big dangle earrings that also add a touch of boho to the outfit. I found these at a Peruvian shop in downtown Florence.

And for shoes I went with a brown gladiator sandal by Arizona I recently picked up at JCPenney on sale. I am so in love with them and they are so comfy! I've been wanting to try gladiator sandals for a while and I'm so glad I did. I think they are so versatile. Would love to try a higher pair as well!

You can still find the Arizona Cherry Gladiator Strap Sandal at JCPenney here. On sale for $29.99.

What styles are you ready to wear this summer?
Questions, comments, and advice is welcome! Hope everyone is doing well and has a fabulous week!
