OOTD : A Pop of Burgundy + Little Black Dress

I really love this outfit! I picked up this pretty lacey black dress at H&M. In my last post I mentioned they had 3 clearance rack items for $20.00. I thought this was a steal and I've had so many compliments on the clearanced blazer I picked up from my last ootd!

The back of the dress is the best part! It dips low and is completely see through lace. I like how it cinches in  at the waist and the bottom half of the dress is flowy with a silky slip underneath. I think it's great for date night.

I think you can dress this up or down. It would look great with strappy heels or flats. But with winter still here in North Carolina I had to add a few more layers...

I had to add a pop of my favorite color this winter; Burgundy. This cardigan is a brighter burgundy but I love it. I picked this cardigan up last month for $11.00 at JCPenney normally $38.00! It was clearanced then clearenced even more when I checked out.  It's a cashmere blend which makes it super soft to the touch. JCPenney was having some great end-of-season sales.

I also added leggings (of course!) and some simple leather boots :]

For my nail of the day I'm wearing OPIs 'Tomorrow Never Dies' from the 2012 Skyfall collection. I love this fun, vibrant, blue-purple, metallic polish!

Quick OOTD : Mixing Burgundy and Army Green

After Christmas I picked up a few new things from H&M when they were having a huge sale. I think it was 3 clearance items for 20 dollars. I got 2 pretty black dresses (one will be in a coming ootd) and this chic black blazer (normally $50). I had so many compliments the first time I wore this blazer! It's so fitted and tailored to your body. Such a steal!

I also picked up this lacey burgundy tank from H&M for 10.00 USD and found these army green skinny jeans on the clearance rack for 15.00 USD! They have some great texture to them with grooved stripes going down the front. I like it- it's kind of edgy :] plus, it's so hard for me to find skinny jeans that actually fit!

I then added simple black leather boots and my j.crew crystal link bracelet.

I quite like the rich hues of burgundy paired with a army green.

I love checking out the clearanced winter clothing! I took advantage of these items after Christmas but they still have some steals out there. If you have a Belks near by definitely check out their clearance racks! I have to photograph them still but I grabbed lots of lacey spring time sweaters for 8 dollars a piece :D :D

Hope you enjoyed my ootd! It was a rushed together outfit but I think it came out ok for something casual.

Questions, comments, and advice is welcome! Have a great rest of the week!

Snow Day and SNOW CREAM!!!

I told everyone it wasn't going to snow... and I was wrong! I shall never be a weather forecaster haha! I haven't seen this much snow in NC since I've been here (about 3 years). We got about 10 inches. I've lived in NY, OH, IL, SD... but haven't had a chance to actually play in snow for a while now so I had some fun :]

I walked all through the woods. It was so quiet and beautiful. Then I got my family to make a snow man with me :D we used gumballs for eyes and tried to give him a uni-brow haha! Had to throw a few snow balls and I was the only one brave enough to make a snow angel. I was already soaked so it was ok!

Below, I'll tell you about SNOW CREAM!! How on earth did I not know about this all my life?

Dun Dun Dun...

Everyone's kept this a secret from me! People were stunned I had never heard of snow cream. I guess I have been living under a rock. And now I shall show you how I made it (thanks to my lovely coworkers recipes). Lesson learned: always use the second snow and not the first snow of the season!

I added milk, 1/2 cup sugar (though it really depends on how much snow you have so just wing it and taste), lots of tablespoons of vanilla extract, and I whisked it all together lightly. I just combined everything till I got the right consistency and taste. I forgot to picture it but I added rum extract and it was sooooo delicious! I love me some rum!

The snow!
After it was all mixed it was a bit soupy so we needed to add more snow to our snow cream!
YUM!! All done!

It was nice and thick by the time I was finished! I thought it would taste like ice-cream but don't expect that! It's similar to homemade ice-cream but different. It's a great, low cost, fun treat during the winter ;D

Am I the only one who has never heard of snow cream before??! How do you make yours?

Questions, comments, and advice is welcome! Stay warm everyone!

I apologize for my absence! Break-ups are the worst. I don't think I'll ever get used to them. I always fall too hard, too fast, and trust too much. It's been Pretty Little Liar marathons for a few weeks now :D woot! New favorite show?! I didn't expect my life to turn out like it has so I've been making some life changes and did some 'soul searching'. I've decided to follow my family to TN in a few months to get away and have a change of scenery. Hopefully I can get back in the swing of things shortly :]

Lime Crime Carousel Gloss in Candy Apple

I have always wanted to try Lime Crime! Their Black Friday sale sucked me in and I'm so glad it did! Everything on the site was 20% off which helped a lot! Unfortunately, I ran into quite a few issues with customer service around the holidays which will be explained down below.

I first heard about this gloss from Brittany Balyn on youtube. She raved about this color so of course I had to try it!

I could have sworn I had a gloss that looked just like this when I was a kid! I thought it may have come with a My Little Pony or something but I'm pretty sure I had one that looked just like this which is why I absolutely love the packaging! It's digging up all these blurred memories. I love that! Plus, Lime Crime put so much detail into everything from the delivery box to the wrapping. It's just awesome. Then there's the unicorn- I'm automatically a huge fan. My delivery box had unicorns and pink polka-dots printed inside the actual box. I'll be saving that box for a while haha I'll have to insert a photo in the next couple of days!

The applicator is a tiny brush which is really convenient for precise application. You'll definitely need to be precise because this gloss is so pigmented that it's almost like a liquid lipstick. Talk about whoa! It's so pigmented that it stains my lips for hours... it even stains my fingers haha.

This color is super bright! In the photos I'm wearing a very light coat and sheered it out just a wee bit with my fingers. I wasn't expecting this red to be so bright. It's definitely a candy apple red. It's really not a color that I would usually go for but I think it's a fun and I'm willing to step out of my comfort zone. For now, I'll be sheering it out to make it more wearable :]

The consistency is thick and sticky which gives it amazing lasting power. This gloss has a lot of red glitter in it which really catches the light and sparkles. It can get a little patchy after 3 or so hours because of the glitter but it's an easy fix and your lips will still be red! If you don't like glitter staying put as the color wears this may not be for you.

It was my first time ordering from Lime Crime and I wasn't sure what to expect. Unfortunately I ran into quite a few issues along the way during the holiday season. First, they oversold a lot of their products on Black Friday which meant a lot of orders went on hold all the way up to Christmas and I had a ton of gifts in the order I placed. Second, the customer service was overwhelmed so everyone was getting delayed responses. No one was getting any service and their facebook customer service was horrible- they couldn't do anything to help. Third, they didn't end up restocking the oversold products so products ended up being canceled last minute in orders (all my order was canceled except this gloss). That sent me rushing to the store Christmas eve to get gifts. I was one unhappy customer but at least they sent the gloss on rushed delivery. I just wished they had given me the option to shop what was in stock at the same sale price or told me in advance.

Verdict : When I shop their Black Friday sale again it will be just gifts for myself instead of worrying about gifts for others getting here in time to ship out for Christmas. Too much of a headache!

I think this gloss is awesome and I really want more! I think 17.00 USD is a bit steep though. I'll wait for their Black Friday sale again or if I finish this tube then maybe I'll make the splurge and try another color :]
I really want to try their lipsticks as well!

Have you tried Lime Crime yet??

Inglot 414 PEARL : Freedom System Palette

I have around 31 new Inglot shadows and with some brand new palettes I splurged on during their black Friday sale! It only  happens once a year so I endured much waiting and saving. 20% off all shadows- you can't beat that. I spent days looking through swatches to see what colors I wanted for all my palettes so I'm returning the favor :] I hope that these Inglot shadow reviews/ swatches help someone else create their palette!

414 PEARL is a rich, deep, hunter green with a hint of blue and a pretty pearly finish. Great for a smokey eye. I already have a few greens similar to this in my collection which is probably why it's not my favorite of the bunch. But it's a great basic, staple, color to have in any collection if you don't already have something similar.

Texture is soft and smooth. Nicely pigmented and easy to work with. No complaints here.

Below, I have 414 PEARL in the outer corner and blended into the crease for some depth. 17 SHINE is all over the lid and I have MAC Patina in the crease.

Each shadow retails for 6.00 USD using the freedom system. During Black Friday they were 4.80 USD.
The 4 pan palette retails for 10.00 USD.
You get a ton of product for the price. This shadow (414 PEARL) has 2.7 g / 0.10 oz.  Mac shadows only have 1.5 g / 0.05 oz.

Questions, comments, and advice is welcome! Hope everyone has a lovely weekend!

End of Season Sales : Cold Weather Workout Gear - JCPenney

Happy February everyone!!
Since canceling my gym membership I've been bringing my workouts to the outdoors. The only problem: It's winter and I had absolutely no cold weather workout clothes. I went out before Christmas and got 2 pairs of workout leggings and one workout jacket. I was washing a lot! If your like me and in the market for more cold weather workout gear to layer on; now is the time to buy! Stores are getting rid of all their winter attire.

I was in JCPenney and saw all their winter workout clothes clearance 50% off plus an additional 20% off! I really love their Xersion line (I just wish they made more Xsmalls). Xersion always fits comfortably, looks great, and keeps me dry. I look for workout clothes that are moisture wicking since I'm always a sweaty mess after running and weights.

I picked up a few long sleeve shirts and a light hot pink jacket.

I snapped a few photos after my workouts using my new gear! Hence the blurry, out-of-proportion, hot mess, mirror photos. I didn't take the time to drag out my tripod since I need to get a post recovery meal in after all my workouts.

LEFT : I'm wearing the blue long sleeve shirt. Originally $26 on sale for $11
RIGHT : I'm wearing the black and lime green collared, long sleeve, shirt. Originally $40 on sale for $11

All have thumb holes which I think is super nifty :]

I forgot to snap a photo of my pink jacket but I'll insert one soon after a workout! The final price for the jacket came to $13 or $14 originally $54

I've been wearing these items non-stop. It's great the sales start now while it's still winter. We need those layers!

Questions, comments, and advice is welcome! Have a great week everyone!
